Waveney Light Opera Group is a friendly theatre group that is based in Beccles. We usually perform two shows a year at Beccles Public Hall, one in April and one in October. Calendar Girls - The Musical

Written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, this award-winning musical is based on the 2003 film, which, in turn, was based on a true story.

When Annie’s husband dies from leukaemia, she teams up with her close friend Chris to buy a comfortable sofa for the visitors’ room at the hospital where he was treated. They have an idea of printing a calendar to raise funds, featuring some of the members of the Knapely branch of the Women’s Institute. A calendar with a difference, as each of the traditional activities would be depicted by one of the ladies discreetly posing in the nude. Their proposal is initially met with great scepticism, but eventually, Chris convinces them to participate.

An inspiring story of friendship, support and a group of ladies who achieved something extraordinary.
